Beatriz de Sousa (1999) nasceu em Leiria e estudou Cinema, na Universidade da Beira Interior. Depois de ter produzido o filme EFÍGIE (2021), estreou-se na realização com o filme MESA POSTA (2022), que teve influência da sua breve passagem por Design Industrial, na Escola Superior de Artes e Design, das Caldas da Rainha. MESA POSTA, um documentário que aborda questões relacionadas com a mulher, o assédio e a problemática familiar, foi selecionado para diversos festivais internacionais de cinema como The Feminist Film Festival (Roménia), Porto/Post/DOC, Leiria Film Fest, SWIFF – Student World Impact Film Festival (Estados Unidos da América), onde recebeu uma menção Honrosa, tal como aconteceu no Curtas Vila do Conde. Foi ainda distinguido com o Prémio Inatel, no Olhares do Mediterrâneo como melhor curta-metragem de escola portuguesa em 2022. Recebeu também um Prémio Especial do festival, no PORTOFEMME, na competição estudante, em 2022.

UM BOM PAR DE OVÁRIOS (2022) é o seu último projeto, uma instalação multidisciplinar, que pretende aprofundar as temáticas do assédio e do abuso, associadas à (falta de) literacia sexual. Passando pela pintura e escultura, performance e cinema, arquivo e videoarte, o projeto destaca-se pelo impacto social e cultural que teve sobre as comunidades onde se patenteou, tendo especial relevância sobre as temáticas feministas. Beatriz, a par do seu trabalho enquanto artista e realizadora, procura trazer consciência sobre a igualdade de gênero, enquanto ativista pelos direitos das mulheres.

Beatriz de Sousa (1999) was born in Leiria and studied Cinema at the University of Beira Interior. After producing the film EFÍGIE (2021), she made her first film MESA POSTA (2022), which was influenced by his brief passage in Industrial Design, at Escola Superior de Artes e Design, in Caldas da Rainha. MESA POSTA, a documentary that addresses issues related to women, abuse and family issues, was selected for several international film festivals such as The Feminist Film Festival (Romania), Porto/Post/DOC, Leiria Film Fest, SWIFF – Student World Impact Film Festival (United States of America), where it received an Honorable Mention, as it happened at Curtas Vila do Conde. It was also distinguished with the Inatel Prize, at Olhares do Mediterráneo, as the best short film by a Portuguese school in 2022. It also received a Special Prize from the PORTOFEMME festival, in the student competition, in 2022.

A GOOD PAIR OF OVARIES (2022) is her latest project, a multidisciplinary installation, which aims to explore the themes of harassment and abuse, associated with (lack of) sexual literacy. Passing through painting and sculpture, performance and cinema, archive and video art, the project stands out for the social and cultural impact it had on the communities where it was patented, with special relevance to feminist themes. Beatriz, along with her work as an artist and filmmaker, seeks to bring awareness about gender equality, as an activist for women's rights.
